The M31s is an upgraded version of the previous M31 from Samsung. The Galaxy M31s has a rather familiar design, not just to the recent M-series phones but also most of the 2020 smartphones by Samsung. This includes things like a centrally located hole-punch camera on the top of the display and camera cluster in the top left corner of the back of the phone. The phone features a 6.5-inch, 2400×1800 resolution AMOLED panel with a cutout at the top center of the display which is home to the selfie camera. The back panel of the phone is made of plastic and has a glossy finish to it. This will surely attract scratches over time. The Galaxy M31s has the fingerprint scanner built into the power button. In the top left corner of the back panel is the camera array consisting of four lenses and the flash.
Out the box, the phone runs on Samsung One UI 2.1 based on Android 10. The processor running the show is the Exynos 9611 chipset, which has an octa-core CPU (4x 2.3GHz Cortex-A73 cores + 4x 1.7GHz Cortex-A53) and Mali G72 MP3 GPU. There is a single storage option with two options of Memory i.e. 128GB of storage and either 6GB or 8GB RAM.
The Samsung Galaxy M31s has a quad-camera setup on the rear, consisting of a 64MP f1.8 main camera, a 12MP f2.2 ultrawide, a 5MP f2.5 macro, and a depth sensor. For the selfies, there is a 32MP f2.2 fixed-focus camera on the front. There is a 6000mAh massive battery to keep the phone powered up through your day without worry of it ever going low or off before the next charge.
There is pretty much no difference between the previous Galaxy M31 and this model, and it is quite not a recommendable phone either. The fact that it runs on an old and dated Exynos 9611 processor and standard phasing out 60Hz display means you will not have the smartphone experience of a 2020 smartphone but rather a year old device. Despite it’s cheap price tag i cannot recommend it because there are other better and similarly priced devices on the market like the Realme 7 and even the Xiaomi K20 pro would be a better deal.
