Samsung’s amazing 2-in-1 laptop, the Galaxy Book Flex, is one of the best 2-in-1 laptops you can find on the market in 2020 thus far. Equipped with the S-Pen, 360-degree hinge and gorgeously vibrant QLED display all combine to make it an outstanding piece of tech. For the 15-inch, the laptop comes in two models, there’s a Core i5 and a Core i7 model both have a 10th Gen processor with up to 12GB of RAM and houses up to 512GB SSD storage. As for the smaller 13-inch, priced at $1349, also packs an Ice Lake Core i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and a 13.3-inch QLED 1080p display. Both are made in the fetching Royal Blue finish that you see in these photos.

The only Samsung Galaxy Book Flex 15 configuration currently available today costs $1,399 and comes with a 15.6-inch, 1080p QLED display, an Intel Core i7-1065G7 CPU, 12GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and an NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU.

The Royal Blue Galaxy Book Flex is astonishingly good on the eye. The aluminum Galaxy Book Flex chassis catches the light bouncing off of it, the result is an amazing gradient of hues. With dimensions measuring 14 x 9 x 0.6 inches and weighing around 3.4 pounds, it is pretty light and decently thin too. As its name implies, you can rotate the Galaxy Book Flex’s display up to 360 degrees to convert it and use it as a tablet. When closed, it exhibits reflective silver edges. The lid when opened, you will notice very slim bezels except the bottom bezel which houses the Samsung logo. In the top bezel you will find the 720p webcam.

It is worth mentioning that this device is exceptionally thin and thus you might not find most of your ports available on it. On the right side, you will find a stylus dock and two Thunderbolt 3 ports, for high-speed transfer rates and charging up one’s devices. On the left handside, you will find a headphone jack, microSD card and a standard USB Type-C port. For extra ports you will have to get a USB-C hub.

The S-Pen

The built-in S Pen is the main attraction of the Samsung Galaxy Book Flex 15’s spectacular show. To retrieve the S Pen from its dock, you can simply push its rectangular head to pop it out of place. As soon as you pull it out from its garage, a far-right menu pops up with options to jot down notes, draw, engage with Live Message — a fun app that converts your flashy stylus scribbling into GIFs — and so much more. More S-Spen features are found on the pen icon located on the taskbar. This will pop up two options: As soon as you pull it out from its garage, a far-right menu pops up with options to jot down notes, draw, engage with Live Message — a fun app that converts your flashy stylus scribbling into GIFs — and so much more.

According to Samsung, you will be able to work through the day and stream into the night thanks to a fast-charging battery that lasts up to 19 hours for the 15.6″ Galaxy Book Flex and up to 20 hours for the 13.3″model (Of course this will vary with usage and brightness of the screen). Not only that but with Wireless PowerShare, you can even charge wireless-compatible devices, like your smartphone or smartwatch, right on the trackpad. But remember, having to put your smartphone on top of the trackpad also limits your use of the laptop while using this feature.

The Samsung Galaxy Book Flex is one of the best 2-in-1 laptops you will find in 2020. It has a lot going great for it, a great battery life, beautiful design, gorgeous QLED display, powerful processor and above all an S-Pen for those die-hard creatives and Note series fans. Despite all this, it doesn’t mean it has no flaws. There are a couple of them, including a flimsy hinge, a shallow keyboard and the strange placement of the fingerprint sensor, but none feel significant enough to diminish the all-round quality of this feature-rich convertible. As amazing as it is, it is equally amazingly expensive, with the 13-inch model available in the UK costing as much as £1349 and $1399 in the US, which is a couple hundred quid more expensive than non-convertible alternatives. This simply means it’s not meant for everyone or anyone- unless you indeed have cash to spare. Nonetheless, the Samsung Galaxy Book Flex 15 is an excellent ultraportable workstation that delivers a beautiful melange of entertainment and power to satisfy your tasks as an on-the-go professional while giving you a bucket of fun along the way.
