1.) Samsung Galaxy A51 (Released December 2019) & Samsung Galaxy A51 5G(Coming soon, April 2020)

Samsung A51

The following are the difference between the regular A51 and 5G model:

  • The latter has a 5G modem integrated into the SoC.
  • The regular A51 features the Exynos 9611 (10nm), the 5G model will seemingly feature the Exynos 980 (8 nm).
  • The 5G model will have a much larger 4500mAh battery as compared to the A51’s 4000mAh battery (this is expected as 5G will demand more battery power). Both will have 15W Fast Charging.
  • The regular A51′ CPU is an Octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53), whilst the 5G model will be an Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz Cortex-A77 & 6×1.8 GHz Cortex A55).
  • The A51 features a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU, while the 5G model features a Mali-G76 MP5 GPU.
  • Storage-wise the A51 is available in the following storage options; 64GB 4GB RAM, 128GB 4GB RAM, 128GB 6GB RAM, and 128GB 8GB RAM. As compared to the 5G model’s 128GB 6GB RAM, and 128GB 8GB RAM.

Let’s take a look at their shared specs and features:

  • Body & Display: Glass front (Gorilla Glass 3), polycarbonate back and frame. The screen is a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED, 20:9, FHD+ (1080x2400px), 405ppi.
  • OS: Runs on Android 10;One UI 2.0 from the box.
  • Rear camera(Quad camera array): Primary: 48MP, 1/2″ sensor size, 0.8µm pixel size, 26mm equiv. Focal length, f/2.0 aperture. Ultra wide angle: 12MP, 1.12µm, 13mm, f/2.2. Macro: 5MP, 25mm, f/2.4. Depth sensor: 5MP, 1/5″, 1.12µm, f/2.2. LED flash; 2160p@30fps video recording.

  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, USB-C; 3.5mm audio jack.
  • Misc: Under-display fingerprint reader, single bottom-firing loudspeaker.

No glass build/design here, but then again you’d expect it from a mid-range device with great internals to compensate for the built. At least one will not have to worry about getting nasty cracks on the back from falls. The phone’s frame is also, like the back (which has a reflective rhythmical pattern of colors effect), made from plastic. Featuring an Infinity-O panel, meaning the phone has a mostly bezelless and notchless display. On the front first thing you will notice is a small punch-hole for the selfie camera right at the top-center of the device. A similar design as the Note 10 series.

The  Samsung Galaxy A51 offers a sensible package of features and according to reviews from some sources it performs quite well in some key areas. Much of the complaints and criticism pointing towards bad camera performance. But if taking photos it’s not priority you’ll especially appreciate it if you’re into gaming. Samsung has tough competitors in the mid-price range, for example Xiaomi who offer better value for much less with few sacrifices. But if you’re a Samsung fan and no other, then this device will do you just fine for the price. Just keep in mind that you’ll find a much better device for the same price.

The Samsung Galaxy A70 is a stunning device on the eye thanks to the reflective color-shifting paint job at the back. Depending on the viewing angle, you will see purple, blue, green, or gradients of those three. Samsung calls this chameleon hue Black, but the only time you can see it black-ish is when you are looking at the back at nearly 180-degree angle.

It may not have the best processor amongst it’s competitors in the mid-range category of mobile devices and it doesn’t feature a notification LED but it has its goodies too; boasting a large and beautiful 6.7″ AMOLED display, single storage option of 128GB and provision of expandable storage, and a beefy 4500mAh battery with 25W fast charging capabilities this device will hold it’s own.

Another point worth mentioning is that the device runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) out the box and can be upgraded to Android 10.0; One UI 2.0. The A70’s Triple camera consists of an Ultra Wide Camera with a 123-degree field of vision like the human eye, as well as a 32MP (F1.7) camera for bright, clear photos all day. The third is a 5MP Depth Camera for adjusting depth of field.

Available in the following colors; Coral, Blue, Black, and White, the Samsung Galaxy A70 is a well-rounded mid-range device with little compromises. Competitive Samsung devices in the same category include the Samsung Galaxy A50, A51, and the A71.

The back of the phone’s have, like the rest of the current A-series phones, unique hues and patterns. The back panel looks like glass, feels like glass, and shines like glass, hence Samsung terms this as “Glasstic”. It has this subtle stripe pattern that’s disturbed only by a few diagonal lines. Once light strikes the back panel you’ll be amazed by a captivating blast of colors and shades. Still, no IP rating on these devices, this would have been a nice addition to the models.
