I have not taken much interest to take a look at Oppo smartphones but there’s one particular Oppo smartphone that has recently stolen my attention- and that is the Oppo Find X3 Pro. The Chinese mobile communications company is well-known for its unconventional innovations- be it a swivel or a pop-up camera, geometry-inspired panels, the VOOC fast charging, or even soccer-themed phones.

DESIGN AND DISPLAY
Without any doubt at all, the first thing that you will notice about the Oppo Find X3 Pro is its design. It is absolutely stunning. It almost looks like they took the metal Mercury and managed to mold the phone out of it. The Oppo Find X3 Pro measures 163.6 x 74 x 8.3 mm, weighs 193 grams and is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance.
There’s a slightly curved Gorilla Glass 5 on the front of which the display houses the punch-hole selfie camera at the top-right corner. There is one thin slit of a grille above the screen, where there’s one of the stereo speakers. Oh, before we go any further, it’s worth mentioning that there are two versions of the Oppo Find X3 Pro- one with the gloss back and the other features an anti-glare frosted finish which repels fingerprints and smudges.
The back of the phone gets more interesting as this is where the magic is. The rear camera is the real marvel and looks gorgeous. Its right column features the dual-LED dual-tone flash, the 3MP micro camera with a LED ring of its own, and the 13MP telephoto camera. The left column has the two 50MP wide-angle shooters. It has a different design from what we have seen from recent flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and OnePlus 9 Pro.
On to the sides of the phone, the volume keys are on the left, while the lone power/lock key is on the right. On the top of the phone is one tiny mic pinhole, while the bottom here you’ll find the dual-SIM tray, the USB-C port, the mouthpiece and the other stereo speaker.
The Oppo Find X3 Pro features a gorgeous 6.7″ LPTO AMOLED screen of 3,216 x 1,440 px resolution or 525ppi density. The panel supports 10-bit color and can display more than 1 billion colors unlike the 16 million on most competing phones.
It is also HDR10 and HDR10+ certified. The screen also supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, while the touch matrix works with 240Hz sampling rate.
INTERNALS AND SOFTWARE
The Find X3 Pro boots Android 11 with the new ColorOS 11.2 out of the box. The powerhouse inside the Find X3 Pro is the Snapdragon 888 is an eight-core processor made up to three clusters that over performs the Snapdragon 865 by up to 25% with better even efficiency too.
The top cluster is a single 2.84GHz Kryo 680 Prime using ARM’s Cortex-X1 design. Next there’s a triple core made up of Kryo 680 Gold cores clocked at 2.42GHz based on Cortex-A78. Lastly, there’s a quad-core cluster of efficient and low-power Kryo 680 Silver cores clocked at 1.8GHz. Onto the graphics is the Adreno 660 which promises 35% increase in performance over the previous gen Adreno 650.
The Oppo Find X3 Pro is available in a single memory and storage option which is 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, non-expandable.
The Oppo Find X3 Pro features four cameras on its rear – a 50MP main wide-angle camera with a Sony IMX 766 sensor with 1/1.56” sensor size and an f/1.8 aperture. This one has OIS and all-pixel omni-directional phase detection autofocus.
Then there’s a 50MP ultra-wide camera which uses a Sony IMX 766 sensor with 1/1.56” sensor size and an f/2.2 aperture and a Native 110.3° field of view. Also, features All-Pixel Omni-Directional phase detection autofocus.
Next is a 13MP telephoto camera with an f/2.4 aperture, 5x hybrid optical zoom and 20x digital zoom.
The last one on the rear is a 3MP microscope shooter with an f/3.0 aperture and 1:1 aspect ratio. This one shoots photos with an autofocus system working between 1mm and 3mm distances and optics that offer up to 60x magnification. It has an always-on ring-LED flash as the phone will always cast shadow over the subjects from such close shooting distances.
Lastly, is the final camera which is the 32MP selfie cam within the screen’s punch hole and has fixed focus.
BATTERY & CHARGING
The Oppo Find X3 Pro is powered by a 4,500mAh battery. It supports 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast wired charging, and you are getting the VOOC power adapter as part of the retail bundle. The smartphone also supports 30W AirVOOC wireless fast charging provided you buy the appropriate charger for that.
